Botanics
In botanical circles Wild Lime goes by the distinguished moniker of
(CitrusxLimon)x (Citrusxaurantifolia). It seems to be an excessively cross name that is in keeping with its dagger like thorns.
The zest or outer skin of the fruit holds a unique essential oil which is the major contributor to the delicious character of our Wild Lime liqueur.
The Source
Our superb tangy Wild Lime fruit comes from a chemical-free orchard in Queensland, Australia. It is a case of no gain without pain as the fruits are protected by long sharp thorns.
Pickers need to wear thick gloves or re-enact the crucifixion scene.
In the wild the Wild Lime can be found in lowland subtropical rainforest in South Eastern Queensland.
Therapeutics
In many cultures liqueurs are referred to as digestives for their ability to settle the stomach after a meal. The Wild Lime essences which are extracted during distillation of the Wild Lime Liqueur also have a similarly soothing effect on an overworked digestive system.
